fresh perspectives on filipino diaspora, philanthropy and social innovation

About Filamthropy

“Filamthropy” began in the Spring of 2010 as a mini-research project with the Civic Leadership Program of the Asian Pacific American Leadership Institute (APALI) of Silicon Valley.  The project surveyed nonprofit organization leaders in the San Francisco Bay Area on how they prioritized cash and volunteer contributions.

Filamthropy moved onto the web with its first blog post on July 4, 2010.  A move to social media followed the next month with its first tweet in August 2010,  and the launch of a Facebook fan page soon after.

As a resource for the entire diaspora, Filamthropy continuously seeks fresh perspectives on Filipinos, philanthropy, and social innovation and strives to:

  • Be a Filipino force for social good.
  • Connect resources with the resourceful.
  • Engage in thoughtful conversations about Filipino communities at the intersections of social equity, social capital, and social innovation.
