fresh perspectives on filipino diaspora, philanthropy and social innovation

The LOTUS Circle of Silicon Valley

The LOTUS Circle is the first giving circle focused on grant making for  nonprofits serving Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in the Silicon Valley.  It was launched as part of the Asian American & Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP) giving circle campaign.

Founded in Fall 2012 by professionals and community leaders from technology, consulting, and philanthropy, the group seeks to identify “under-the-radar” and emerging nonprofits doing great work for AAPIs in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Its mission is to create learning and investment opportunities for individuals to connect with others who want to actively engage the local AAPI community.  The LOTUS Circle then translates learning into action by gathering resources to support emerging and under-recognized nonprofits that address timely and critical issues in the Silicon Valley AAPI community and beyond.  The LOTUS Circle will make its first grants in Summer 2013.

Julius Paras of Filamthropy is a founding member of the LOTUS Circle.
