Guided by Julius’ advice, I am narrowing down how I want to make an impact by learning more about poverty in the Philippines. The first step I’m taking is to find all the ways poverty is being approached in the Philippines, in order to discover which ones resonate strongly with me.
I’ve learned that there are social enterprises in the Philippines, like Rags2Riches and Hapinoy, think tanks for shaping policies on poverty, aid foundations like USAID and Asian Development Bank, NGOs and CSOs focused on poverty, university centers like the Ateneo Center for Social Entrepreneurship, and US-based organizations that are working on social and economic development in the Philippines, like Philippine Development Foundation and Science & Technology Advisory Council (STAC)- Silicon Valley.
Are there other approaches to poverty alleviation in the Philippines that I should think about?
What companies and organizations do you know of? Any suggestions on how to find more?
